| Avishai Cohen was born in Israel in 1970. After his studies in New York he joined pianist Danilo Perez and later founded his own band taking roots from multiple influences. Impressed by Avishai’s own ensemble and compositions, Chick Corea invited Cohen to release his debut CD under Corea's label Stretch and joined Chick’s own projects for six years as bassist.
Avishai Cohen has also worked with Alicia Keys, Bobby McFerrin, Roy Hargrove, Herbie Hancock and Paquito D'Rivera. He has also performed with the London Philharmonic Orchestra and the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and many more. After recording four internationally acclaimed albums Avishai Cohen decided to create his own record label Razdaz Recordz and start his own solo career at full steam during 2002. To date Avishai Cohen has released eleven albums worldwide and has recently signed to the Blue Note – EMI family. “Aurora” features songs in Hebrew, English, Spanish and Ladino. |
