This year one doesn't have to go far to Monterey Jazz Festival or to one of 199 other places he performs to see one of the most influential jazz guitarists of our time. John Scofield, the living jazz legend who played with giants such as Miles Davis, Chet Baker, Billy Cobham, Charles Mingus and others is coming to the festival with his group. The leading guitar player has been noted for his powerful sound and character and his music falls between post-bop, funk and R & B.
